SANDS FELDSPATIC - MINE "MOLINO FALZU" - ARDARA AND SYSTEM OF OZIERI The mine is set up in a powerful sandy soil (approximately 40 meters) in the region of Ardara and Mores (SS). Such formation is inserted in a sedimentary succession in which ther are alternated carbonate deposit and silico-clastici that embraces an interval of time comprised between the Burdigaliano and the Tortoniano. The composition Ardara's sands is quartz-feldspatic, with orthoclase and hyaline quartz prevailing and plagioclase subordinated; in the matrix beyond to the fine fractions of previous minerals present it is detrital biotite, montmorillonite and kaolinite. The giacimento introduces a remarkable composizionale homogeneity and reservoirs assessed for approximately 2,5 million tons. The cultivation happens to open sky and the extracted material comes where started to Fraigas's system(Ozieri) through washing processes and classification is obtained: Feldspatic sand to controlled granulometry (0,3 - 4,5 milimeter) with low tenor in femicis Clay filter-pressed in continuous of the fractions of hydroseparated sottovaglio. The annual production is of approximately 130.000 tons of feldspatic sand and approximately 30.000 tons of filter-pressed clay.
